Well it’s now 8:12 and I was supposed to meet friends for drinks, but I kept on noodling and it kept getting later. Now it’s 8:13 and I haven’t had any drinks and I’m tired and cranky.
What was I thinking?
In other news, I pimped out my theme that I will shortly discard.
Wonderful — Well done indeed.
“And, sorry, all those romantic notions you have of absinthe spoons, manic episodes and Kerouac-like rambling on a long roll of butcher paper really aren’t operative. Creative work is mostly showing up every day and enduring a million tiny failures as you feel your way to something a bit new.”
“Are you really sure that a floor can’t also be a ceiling?”
“Writing about music is like dancing about architecture”
Hot Lips by Django Reinhardt Et Le Quintette Du Hot Club De France
This original recording from 1937 (OSW-357-1 SWING-166) is gorgeous. Classic Django and classically out of copyright.
Stumbld on this while wasting time. I really like it.
Gotye - Heart’s A Mess
Pronounced like the fashion designer Gaultier, without the ‘L’.
I’ve been listening to this song more than any other this week. I find this guy quite intriguing. He’s an Australian one-man outfit and I don’t own his album, but from what I have heard, he crosses a few genres. No two tracks I’ve heard sound remotely the same.
I’ve no idea why he calls himself Gotye. Probably because his real name is Wally.
This one has a Portishead-ish sound…
